We are particularly grateful to Margarida and Helena as well as their colleagues for taking care of all the arrangements (hotel location, transport, lunch dinner, lab tour). Thank you very much for everything. :)

In October the SafeRail project will have completed 12 months of the 36 month project. A review and progress meeting will be held over a 2 day period at ISQ, Portugal, and will update participants of the project progress to date. The meeting will be held on the 12th and 13th of October 2009 and is open to SafeRail partners only.

Ian Nicholson and myself would like to thank EMEF on behalf of all the SAFERAIL partners for hosting a very successful 6-month project meeting and for their excellent hospitality. We are particularly grateful to Mr Costa Franco and Mr Daniel Dias as well as their colleagues for taking care of all the arrangements. Thank you very much for everything. :)

Birmingham University has received delivery of five complete freight train wheelsets from VTG containing wheel flats and surface cracks. These are to be used initially for acoustic emission and ACFM experiments. Also under planning for construction is a 7m long test track which will be used to carry out acoustic emission tests.

Dear SAFERAIL partners please remember to check the project folders occasionally for new uploaded documents. Between March and April there will be a large amount of information being uploaded with regards to Work-package A and planned preliminary experiments as part of WP-B and C.

You will have noticed that the public part of the SafeRail website has been updated. The information presented is not new and has been taken from the DOW. Please be assured that when it comes to presenting new material on the website, all the partners will be informed first in order to get their agreement. regards Ian
