Initial Acoustic Emission field trials conducted at EMEF test track
14 July , 2009 On the 18th-20th June initial, Acoustic Emission (AE) field trials were successfully conducted at EMEF, Porto, Portugal. UoB, ENVAC, Feldman and ISQ visited EMEF's test track to utilise an available a locomotive. To ensure defects were present, wheel flats were introduced into the locomotive wheels by emergency breaking. AE instrumentation was setup by the track and data collected according to an agreed test protocol. The data is currently being analyzed but first impressions appear to show very promising results.Site Search
